We started this blog in November 2004 as a way to celebrate the arrival of Nicolas Henri Meier who arrived in the world 3 months ahead of schedule (very unlike his parents who are late for everything) :-)

my dad
it's been awhile since i posted. my dad had a massive stroke a few weeks ago and has had severe complications which means he won't be coming home. we are arranging for him to enter a hospice facility. it is a very sad time for us all.
I was just reading the ProJo on-line and realized your Dad passed away.
My condolences on your loss. After reading your blog post, I can assure you that it's probably best that your Dad didn't have to continue to suffer.
My Dad was in a nursing home for over 13 years. While I didn't get to visit him that much, due to distance, every time I did get to see him, I saw the man I grew up with slipping away and being replaced by someone who lost all of his dignity.
I remember meeting your Dad, at your(new)house. He was a kind man and made me feel welcome. I also remember seeing him at the Bess Eaton. Everytime I saw him, he always was kind, even tough I was just a stupid teenager walking down some wrong paths and sometimes taking his son with me. He probable knew that I was trouble, but never let on.
